Unity and Harmonisation of overlapping geometry
=
Architectural unity of open spaces is harmonised through the balance of overlapping objects

3 Pairs of Combined Axonometrics

"Contrast of structural mass and large voided spans
+
Decentralisation and absence of boundary
=
The structural spans and large mass create boundary with the absence of significant voids

Experiment 1

The two clients
I have chosen Revival Cycles and Heston Blumenthal as the two clients in Experiment 1.

Words chosen are:

Revival Cycles
Cacophony (n), Roar (v), Vintage (adj)

Heston Blumenthal
Fusion (n), Dine (v), Perplexing (adj)

Initial model concept (sketch and drafted SketchUp)
From the 18 sections sketches, I selected the idea below.

Model 1

TOP: Roar

BOTTOM: Perplexing

SketchUp - Model 1

Model 2

TOP: Perplexing

BOTTOM: Roar

SketchUp - Model 2

Final model

I decided to further develop on Model 1. There's a lot of details in the building, for example, some obvious as texture on almost every surface (like ceiling) to some insignificant as the thickness of glass/window.

By taking the two conceptual words I chose in the beginning, I would like to name this model The Perplexing Roar~~~

Texture
From the 36 Custom Textures, I selected Crystalline from ABOVE GROUND, Scorched from IN BETWEEN GROUND,  Aggregated from BELOW GROUND, and applied them on the final SketchUp model. I used photoshop to edit the colour from black to red in order to match the colour arrangement in the model.

 Crystalline - ABOVE GROUND

Scorched - IN BETWEEN GROUND (original)

SketchUp Model Share

Due to the uploading size limit in 3D Warehouse, the model can be downloaded from the link below.
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/7cp822vw08vyzp1/KHruY2N8Ha

The model has multiple layers in which you can select or disselect the specific group of elements you want it to appear on screen.
Here's the layers in model:

  • Layer0 (The top section structure)
  • table set
  • Stairs
  • landscape
  • kitchen stuff
  • ground
  • glass panel
  • First floor
  • Figure
  • elevator
  • car
  • below ground
Have fun play around with it :)
